Ollie “Joe” V. Goa, 83 of Temperance, MI, passed away, Tuesday, June 26, 2018, at Ebeid Hospice Residence. Born August 12, 1934, in Boulder, Colorado, he was the son of Ollie and Vera (Osler) Goa. Joe was a four sport letterman in high school. He was an all conference defensive tackle and shot-putter at the University of Nebraska @ Kearney. He boxed for twelve years and was the Midwest Heavy Weight champion in 1954, holding numerous Golden Glove titles. He was the 4th Marine champion & runner up in the Inter-Service Tournament of the Pacific. Joe was a one-time professional boxer. He also attended Northwestern University@ Alva. Joe served in the 134 Infantry N.G. & also the USMC, 4th Marines. He was employed at Monroe Auto Equipment (Tenneco) for 36 years, retiring in 1996. There, he served as Quality Control Manager, Assistant Plant Manager and later as O.E.M. Sale Manager and Head of Engineering. Joe met his wife Linda Young at The University of Nebraska @ Kearney and later married on August 26, 1960. He was a member of the American Legion, Post 192, Temperance and the Southern Michigan Sportsman’s Club. Joe enjoyed all sports, working in his yard, coaching 3-B Baseball, basketball, football, but most of all, spending time with his family and friends. |
